Worksite Representative Training

PSA training is a valuable resource for PSA members. Members are entitled to 10 days paid trade union training leave every two years. Our training courses are designed to develop important skills that will benefit you personally and in your career.

As a PSA worksite representative, you play an essential role in the union. You are a vital link between members at your local worksite and the PSA, and the PSA offers specifically tailored training to enable Worksite Representatives to carry out their role.

The following is a list of Worksite Representative specific training courses for 2017.

Worksite Representatives Course 1

The training will be delivered over a three-day course program. This will be structured to ensure worksite representatives get the maximum benefit from this training and put into practice their new skills and knowledge. Learn what your rights and responsibilities are, how to interpret industrial provisions and expand your advocacy and negotiation skills.

Whether you are a long-serving worksite representative or are new to the role, this course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to undertake your role confidently and effectively.

Worksite Representatives Course 2

This course is available to those Worksite Representatives who have completed the Worksite Representatives Course 1. The training will be delivered over a two-day course program. This course will expand on what your rights and responsibilities are, how to interpret industrial provisions and expand your advocacy and negotiation skills.

Negotiation Skills 1

This one day course is for PSA Worksite Representatives who have already completed the three day Worksite Representatives course to help build on negotiation skills. Negotiation skills are an invaluable and practical skill to have in all roles.

Negotiation Skills 2

This one day course is for PSA Worksite Representatives who have already completed the three day Worksite Representatives course and the Negotiation Skills 1 course. This course inclludes a refresher of negotiation theory, problem solving processes and interviewing skills and also includes a practice negotiation for an individual member issue.

Improving your effectiveness as a Worksite Representative

This half-day training course will provide Worksite Representatives with an enhanced set of skills to participate in consultative forums, industrial liaison forums and restructure committees. These are important skills workplace representatives need to perform their role effectively.
