Show of Unity - Wear Green to Families SA Staff Forum

26 February 2016

The Public Service Association (PSA) members have decided to wear green to the DECD Staff Forum on Monday 29 February as a sign of unity. This act is symbolic of the ongoing campaign for improved working conditions and services to those most in need, the children of SA.

Your PSA worksite representatives will also be handing out green ribbons on the day, in this friendly display of unity.

PSA members have reported a massive 60.8FTE vacancies missing from DECD staffing data provided, and this still may not be all the losses across the child protection worksites and programs. PSA members' view were very clear, DECD are on notice and an explanation about these discrepancies is required by Friday 4 March 2016.

To date DECD has attempted to explain their processes as purely administrative. This is wrong. In light of the critical workload levels, DECD is seemingly reducing the resources for child protection. The PSA, Worksite Representatives and members will continue to campaign to ensure these systematic failures and workload pressures are addressed.

Show unity to your colleagues and your Worksite Representatives, show DECD this matter requires their ongoing and urgent attention and show DECD you will continue fighting – WEAR GREEN ON MONDAY.

As an update the PSA also understands that those employees subject to a conversion to ongoing will be advised via email from DECD today (Friday 26 February). DECD will provide a contact email address for any queries from members in temporary contracts who have not been successful in the conversion. The PSA request members seek out responses or reason for DECD not converting positions before contacting the PSA.

For further information or clarification please contact your PSA Worksite Representatives or the PSA.
