Service SA Dress Code and Toil Update

04 September 2019

Members may be aware that Service SA management have been discussing the existing Dress Code and Toil arrangements.

The Public Service Association (PSA) has been advised that the documents seen by some staff members are not open for formal consultation yet and are only for initial discussion.

The PSA has advised the Department that we expect that any changes will be consulted on as per the following clauses of your Enterprise Agreement;

34. CONSULTATIVE PROCESSES

34.1 The parties commit to the following consultative principles.

34.1.1 Consultation involves the sharing of information and the exchange of views between employers and persons or bodies that must be consulted and the genuine opportunity for them to contribute effectively to any decision making process. This includes consultation with the applicable union whose members are affected.

34.1.2 Employers and Agencies consult in good faith, not simply advise what will be done.

34.1.3 It is an accepted principle that effective workplace relationships can only be achieved if appropriate consultation between the parties occurs on a regular basis.

PSA will continue to visit work-sites to meet with staff and discuss concerns they have around these issues, the potential for privatisation and other industrial issues. If you have not had a PSA visit recently you can contact PSA by email.
