The Public Service Association (PSA) has been notified by the Department for Environment and Water (DEW) of a proposed restructure of the Science, Information and Technology Branch as part of the current phase of the ‘Reshaping DEW’ project.

Under the proposal the branch would have the following nine units:

  •  Science, Information and Technology;
  •  Partnerships;
  •  Service Management;
  •  Business Information Systems;
  •  Information;
  •  Environmental Science;
  •  Water Science;
  •  Water Monitoring;
  •  Infrastructure and Security

The draft organisational structures for each unit can be found here.

The PSA is aware staff have been advised of this proposal and have received the proposed organisational structure which have been provided above. The transition into these structures are guided by principles which have been previously consulted on and can be found here.

It is not expected that there will be a reduction in roles through this process however if any members are affected the PSA will work with them to ensure their rights under the enterprise agreements are adhered to.

Member feedback during this consultation period is a crucial right available to you through your enterprise agreements. Providing feedback through the PSA is a confidential process and the Department must respond to the feedback provided by the PSA.

It is expected that the Department will continue to announce more restructures in different sections as well as specific group and regional proposals. The PSA will be holding a number of member meetings  and teleconferences in the coming weeks and months to discuss the various proposals.

Members with feedback about the proposal can provide it to PSA by email by 12:00pm Friday 21 June 2019.
