SA Health – Introduction of Local Health Network Governing Boards

26 October 2018

The Public Service Association (PSA) recently received information from the Minister for Health and Wellbeing that the SA Government continues to progress implementation of its reforms to the governance of the South Australian public health system.

Chairs have been appointed to the ten Local Health Network (LHN) governing Boards.

PSA members are advised that a second recruitment process is now underway to identify suitable candidates for Governing Board membership. Between five and seven more candidates will be appointed for each Governing Board.

Candidates are sought with knowledge of, and experience in, one of more of the following areas:

  •  health management;
  •  clinical governance;
  •  commercial management;
  •  financial management;
  •  the practice of law;
  •  the provision of health services;
  •  Aboriginal health;
  •  Other knowledge, experience and expertise that will enable the effective performance of the Governing Board functions such as Industrial Relations.

The PSA has been advised that the Governing Board members will start working with their respective LHNs as they are appointed and will act in an advisory capacity during the transition period until the Governing Boards become fully operational from 1 July 2019. Governing Board members will hold positions of significant strategic leadership and responsibility in the health system.

Expressions of Interest are now being sought and the PSA has been asked to encourage high calibre individuals to apply.

The deadline for submissions is 5:00pm Friday 2 November 2018. For further information and an application form visit www.hardygroupintl.com or www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/governancereforms.

The PSA will update members as further information becomes available.
