PSA Members have a right to Consultation

02 February 2016

The Public Service Association (PSA) has recently been advised that organisational changes are being considered within the Environment Protection Authority (EPA). A copy of the letter to the PSA can be viewed here.

Under the South Australian Public Sector Wages Parity Enterprise Agreement: Salaried 2014, the EPA has specific obligations to consult the PSA regarding any organisational changes which could impact PSA members.

The PSA is concerned that the letter from the EPA states “There may be a possibility that organisational changes will not only result in relocation of some staff, but also changes of roles” however the letter does not specify how the EPA will fulfill its duty to engage the PSA in consultation about these changes.

The PSA has responded (copy available here) to remind the EPA of its obligations to consult with the union and members regarding any organisational changes.

Consultation is a right, not a privilege. The PSA is committed to ensuring that your rights are respected.

Members should contact the PSA with any questions or queries.
