PSA Members at the ARC Confirm Commitment to Ongoing Campaign

23 October 2018

PSA members at the Adelaide Remand Centre (ARC) held a short members meeting today to discuss the campaign against the privatisation of the ARC.

The PSA General Secretary Nev Kitchin and PSA staff briefed members on the campaign and our intention to lodge an application in the South Australian Employment Court.

The following motion was passed unanimously by members at the meeting:

"We acknowledge that the Chief Executive has provided a response to our request for information.

His response is totally inadequate and gives us no reason to trust that the decision to privatise the ARC has been made on any reasonable or justifiable grounds.

This meeting of Adelaide Remand Centre PSA members commits to continuing with the ongoing campaign to reverse the decision to privatise the management of the ARC.

We ask the PSA to do all things necessary to see this disgraceful decision reversed.

We endorse the PSA’s next steps and endorse the PSA taking any legal steps necessary.”

The PSA will now lodge an application in the South Australian Employment Court.
