PSA Meets with Treasury About Privatisation

02 March 2017

The Public Service Association (PSA) continues to meet with officials from the Department of Treasury and Finance to further discuss issues arising from the proposed privatisation (commercialisation) of Lands Titles Office.

During a recent meeting the PSA was advised of the following indicative timeline for the process ahead:

  • Indicative bids to close at the end of February 2017
  • Preferred bidders to be selected from the Indicative list and binding bids to be sought during middle of June 2017
  • Cabinet to 'sign off' on successful bidder during August or September 2017
  • Announcements about staff teams transferring across to an NGO to be made by the end of 2017

Throughout this process the PSA will be continuing discussions to ensure that the South Australian Government and any successful bidder fulfil their obligations as outlined in the Fair Work Act 2009 and the Commissioner's Determinations.

The PSA has also written to the Treasurer, Hon. Tom Koutsantonis, MP, seeking a written assurance that employees would be given the option of staying with the public service or transferring across to an NGO. To date the Treasurer has failed to address this key point.

The PSA welcomes feedback about these matters from any member as the project progresses.
