Prisoners not to be Processed for Transportation Outside the Hours of 0900 and 1800

09 February 2016

As a result of the DCS proposal to transport prisoners between prisons late in the evening of Monday 8 February 2016 PSA Worksite Representatives met with DCS management representatives on Tuesday 9 February 2016.

The meeting discussed the prison bedspace shortages and the transporting of prisoners outside the hours of 0900 to 1800.

At the meeting PSA Worksite Representatives determined the following:

  • Prisoners will not be processed for transportation outside the hours of 0900 to 1800.
  • Situations involving prisoner emergencies will be exempt.

The PSA advised DCS that the transportation of prisoners whether it is regional or metropolitan outside the hours of 0900 to 1800 is unreasonable and unsafe.

DCS management representatives present at the meeting were advised of this determination.
