New Housing Authority Contracts

03 August 2018

The Public Service Association (PSA) has been provided further information from the Department of Human Services (DHS) (acting on behalf of the South Australian Housing Authority) following our Information Update yesterday (2 August 2018) and can provide members further critical information regarding employment contracts in the new Authority.

The PSA has been advised that it is intended to amend the South Australian Public Sector Salaried Employees Interim Award, South Australian Modern Public Sector Enterprise Agreement: Salaried 2017 and the South Australian Public Sector Regulations 2010 to include coverage of the South Australian Housing Trust and its employees under the terms of these industrial instruments.

As these arrangements are currently not in place the contracts do not reference them. DHS advise that employees will be issued an information document with their new contracts which outlines this information and confirms that the South Australian Housing Trust will apply these instruments administratively until they are formally amended.

Members who are required to sign one of the new contracts are strongly advised to write the following words on the signature page:

“I am signing this contract on the express basis that Part 7 of the Public Sector Act 2009, the SA Public Sector Salaried Employees Interim Award, and the South Australian Modern Public Sector Enterprise Agreement Salaried 2017 will apply administratively to my employment with the South Australian Housing Trust until those instruments have been amended to cover my employment in the Authority.”

Members will be meeting about this issue in the coming weeks. Look out for information from your PSA Worksite Representative about when your site will be discussing this matter. No Worksite Representative at your worksite? Contact PSA to find out how you can set a meeting at your site.

The PSA will continue to purse the protection of our members’ conditions the new Authority and Government.
