Natural Justice is a Right, Not a Privilege

Members may be aware of recent media reports indicating SA Health employees will be terminated in the event that clinical information of a patient is accessed inappropriately.

Breaches of privacy are unacceptable, however the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness must be applied in any investigation for misconduct.

In the event that allegations of such behaviour are presented, a process must be established to ensure that an opportunity exists for any allegations to be responded to.

It remains an accepted principle that any allegations of misconduct are investigated in a manner that meet
s the requirements of procedural fairness.

This is a
right and cannot be compromised. The PSA will ensure any members undergoing an investigation will have their rights respected.
