National Disability Insurance Scheme - Disability SA

27 April 2016

In 2018, the NDIS will open to all eligible people with disability in South Australia up to the age of 65 years.

Individualised funding (or personal budgets) will be allocated to all Accommodation Service clients over the coming years as part of a staged approach being progressed by the South Australian Government.

Disability Services has commenced planning for the future to prepare for the introduction of the NDIS within Disability Accommodation Services. Steering committees and working groups have been established to help plan for the changes which may include changes to funding arrangements, services, staffing and governance.

The PSA will ensure that the NDIS will remain a standing agenda item at various DCSI industrial forums.

The PSA has been notified that a new forum, Service Reform Peak Union Consultative Forum, will meet to consult with unions that represent the interests of employees affected by the NDIS or the Commonwealth Aged Care Reforms within DCSI.

Meetings will be scheduled monthly at the Riverside Building, North Terrace.

The PSA will provide updates from these meetings, and keep members informed of any proposals of changes to existing services and any impacts to members' job security.

Now is the time to get active and join the PSA or become a workplace representative.
