The PSA will be requesting an update at the next ILF as to the progress of recruitment to all positions.

It is imperative that these positions are resourced in as timely a manner as possible, as members in all areas are reporting increasing workloads as a result of the Transforming Health changes.

2. ESTABLISHMENT OF CHILD PROTECTION SERVICE:

The PSA requested an update on the proposed establishment of a Child Protection Unit for NALHN as stipulated by the Nyland Report. A copy of the presentation provided at the ILF is available for viewing here. The Director of Child Protection position is currently being recruited to. Recruitment to the remainder of the positions to a total of 15.8 fte is to be progressed in as timely a manner as possible as Executive Management recognise the importance and necessity for the provision of this service for the NALHN community.

3. AMALGAMATION OF ALLIED HEALTH, CORPORATE AND OUTPATIENT SERVICES INTO ONE DIVISION – AHCOP:

A copy of this proposal (here) advises of the intent to align the core NALHN services of Allied Health, Outpatients Department and Corporate Services into a divisional structure that is in keeping with the existing clinical service division's governance structure and that will allow for standardised reporting and engagement in the executive leadership group.

There will be no changes in overall workforce numbers in relation to this proposed amalgamation. The feedback period for this proposal is to be received by close of business 3 March 2017. This feedback can be provided to sandra.parr@sa.gov.au or peter.mullen@sa.gov.au or alternatively to PSA Industrial Organiser Caroline Barnwell at caroline.barnwell@cpsu.asn.au.

4. INDEPENDENT EXTERNAL REVIEW OF NALHN EMBERGENCY DEPARTMENTS:

An independent external review of Emergency Departments at Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospital has recently been undertaken by a practising Fellow of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine from New South Wales. A written report detailing the review and recommendations has been provided to the Chief Executive Officer for consideration. Once the recommendations are provided, genuine consultation with all industrial organisations will need to be undertaken by NALHN. The PSA will keep members informed as the process is worked through.
