Mental Health Act Review Amendment Bill 2015

24 February 2016

On Monday 22 February 2016 the Public Service Association (PSA) attended a briefing on the SA Government's intention to amend the Mental Health Act 2009 in line with the recommendations from the Act's review in 2013 and 2014.

The Mental Health (Review) Amendment Bill 2015 was introduced in the South Australian Parliament on 2 December 2015. The PSA has been advised that the Bill will be debated in the Parliament led by the newly appointed Minister, the Hon. Leesa Vlahos MP starting in March 2016.

Prior to the debate, the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist is undertaking a series of information sessions with key stakeholder groups, service providers and individuals who have participated in the review process or contributed through submissions and consultation processes.

PSA members who have any concerns or comments in relation to the changes within the Mental Health (Review) Amendment Bill 2015, should forward to the PSA.
