Members Win: Treasurer Confirms Service SA Not For Sale

23 December 2019

Following a lengthy campaign by PSA members with the community, Treasurer Rob Lucas has confirmed that the Motor Vehicle Registry will not be privatised.

This excellent outcome is a result of the hard work of PSA members in rallying the community and sending a clear message to our politicians that Service SA is not for sale.

Members must now keep up pressure on the Government to make sure that the closure of Modbury, Mitcham and Prospect are not put back on the table.

We have shown that by coming together we can defend a world class public service. Members are encouraged to support your fellow members in your Department in the campaign to stop other slated privatisations of Trains and Trams as well as Road Maintenance. Members wanting to find out the latest in those campaigns visit www.sanotforsale.com.au.

While the fight to save Service SA has now been won we must now maintain and defend your rights under the South Australian Modern Public Sector Enterprise Agreement: Salaried 2017 and South Australian Public Sector Wages Parity Enterprise Agreement: Weekly Paid 2017. The negotiations for the successor Salaried Agreement has begun and the Weekly Paid successor will also be negotiated early next year.
