Meetings with Personal Estates Staff in the Public Trustee

29 April 2016

On 26 April 2016 the PSA conducted a meeting of staff in the Public Trustee: Personal Estates Branch in order to gain feedback on the amended Workforce Planning Standard and the establishment of a Personal Estates Workplace Consultative Committee.

At this meeting staff agreed to the establishment of a Workplace Consultative Committee. However staff suggested the implementation of the amended Workforce Planning Standard be deferred to be discussed through the Workplace Consultative Committee. Once the first meeting of the newly formed Consultative Committee is scheduled the PSA will be advising members and encouraging the feedback of workload issues to the nominated PSA Representative.

The primary cause for concern for staff regarding the Workforce Planning Standard was that there was no additional resources allocated in order to backfill staff on leave. Regardless of amendments to the original document members suggested the amended Workforce Planning Standard still contributed to workload pressures.

Public Trustee management have been notified of the feedback from this meeting. Please see letter here.

As the issue regarding high workloads in the Personal Estates Branch is ongoing, it is more important than ever to encourage your colleagues to join the PSA.
