Industrial Work Bans - Funeral Escorts – Yatala Labour Prison

06 December 2017

The PSA has provided formal correspondence (here) today to the Department for Correctional Services (DCS) advising that members at Yatala Labour Prison (YLP) do not feel confident that DCS can maintain or ensure members’ safety while at work. The correspondence also states that members do not feel supported to keep themselves safe at work and that they do not believe that DCS considers Officer safety to be a priority.

Consequently, it has been unanimously agreed by members at YLP that no Funeral Escorts will be conducted by PSA members until a comprehensive outcome is negotiated and consulted upon with the membership at YLP on how to conduct Funeral Escorts in the future.

Any member who wishes to provide comment or feedback can contact PSA here.
