Help Save the National Working Women's Centres

01 July 2016

The Federal Government will soon cease funding for the three National Working Women’s Centres in QLD, SA and the NT, meaning they will close from the beginning of 2017.

These centres aim to increase participation in and contribution to the workplaces by providing support and assistance to women, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, women in regional or remote areas and women with disabilities. In the last year alone, the centres provided over 9,000 specialist advisory services to women.

Federal Government funding ceases at Christmas 2016, and no commitments for ongoing funding have been made, at this stage.

The PSA supports the ongoing funding of the National Working Women’s Centres and encourages all members to sign the petition calling on the Federal Government to fund this service into the future.
