Forestry SA Enterprise Bargaining 2017

13 July 2017

As members would be aware, Enterprise Bargaining has commenced for a successor Enterprise Agreement (EA) to the 2015 EA. Pay increases and changes to conditions of employment are negotiated through the Enterprise Bargaining process. A draft Enterprise Agreement is then presented to all employees to vote on. If a majority of employees who vote, vote “yes”, the EA is then sent to be ratified by the South Australian Employment Tribunal.

The last pay increase in the 2015 EA was 2.5% on 15 October 2016. The PSA will be seeking a pay increase on 1 October 2017, 1 October 2018 and 1 October 2019 to maintain regular annual pay increases.

The PSA and CFMEU have lodged a joint claim. This was made verbally at the Enterprise Bargaining meeting held on Wednesday 11 July 2017 and then confirmed in writing.

The claim includes pay increases of 2.5% annually for a 3 year agreement, and no loss of current conditions. The PSA has also stated that the SA state wage case will be a flow on of the Federal wage case of a minimum wage increase of 3.3% from 1 July 2017. The 3.3% increase was supported by the State Government in their submissions and the PSA states this should also apply to EB increases. In the State Treasurers budget statements of 2016 and 2017 he stated that EB increases should be no more than 1.5% per annum. Forestry SA state they are constrained by this. The unions have also claimed that all employees below Executive level should be covered by the 2017 EA i.e. no employees on individual contracts.

The reinstatement of the Fire Duty Officers On-call Allowance has also been claimed. The PSA states that if employees are required to be On-call to return to work then an On-call Allowance, currently $55 per day for weekends and $31 for each week night at the 2016 rate for other government workers should be paid.

The next EB meeting will be held on Thursday 10 August 2017.

If PSA members have any additional items on claims please advise PSA.
