Enterprise Bargaining 2018 – Assistants to the Members of The South Australian Parliament

01 November 2018

Negotiations for the next Enterprise Agreement will commence on Tuesday 13 November 2018 at 9:30am.

The first meeting will establish Enterprise Bargaining protocols, frequency of meetings and meeting times.

No formal claims on behalf of employees or offers by the government are usually made at the first meeting.

This successor Enterprise Agreement (EA) to the Assistants to the Members of The South Australian Parliament Enterprise Agreement 2016 will need to include pay increases to be paid for the duration of the EA.

The current 2016 EA prescribed pay rises at 1 October 2015, 1 October 2016 and 1 October 2017. The PSA intends to seek the next pay increase retrospective to 1 October 2018 to maintain annual pay increases, as has applied for the last 20 years through Enterprise Bargaining.

The PSA is also expecting, at a minimum, no reduction in current conditions of employment.

Most of your conditions of employment are contained in your EA – Assistants to Members of Parliament (here) and your award, Personal Assistants to Members of the Parliament of South Australia 1989 Award (here). The award is now known as a Safety Net award. The conditions in it still apply unless they have been superseded by clauses in the EA, including the wages schedule.

Members should look at both the award and the EA, and then advise the PSA what conditions you consider should be improved or any other conditions which should be put in the EA.

PSA Senior Industrial Officers will be attending all meetings on your behalf and we welcome Assistants to Members of Parliament members attending as representatives.

Any comments or enquiries can be made to PSA.
