Courts Admin Authority - Know Your Rights for Sick Leave

26 September 2016

The Public Service Association (PSA) has recently had several member queries raised regarding their rights around Sick Leave. Concern has been raised that Courts Administration Authority (CAA) is approaching members who have had a period of absence and advising them that they may be placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). This approach is being adopted regardless of our members providing a sick certificate and adhering to CAA Policy and Procedures.

While it is reasonable for management to approach a member and talk about the absences it would be unreasonable to put the member on a PIP as the first response. If you have been spoken to by Management concerning sick leave absences and feel you have been treated unfairly please contact the PSA.
