Cold Weather Jackets - CAA

21 September 2016

The Public Service Association (PSA) has been raising the issue of some Sheriff Officers across the Courts Administration Authority (CAA) not having access to Wet Weather Proof Double Sleeved Jackets.

The current uniform supplied to all Sheriff Officers is of a Shirt and a summer type jumper which does not adequately keep the Sheriff Officers warm in cold and wet weather.

The PSA understands that the current system of Sheriff Officers sharing jackets isn't working.

The CAA has stated the provision of jackets for all staff exposed to the elements would be too expensive and would prefer to address this as a heating and cooling building issue.

The PSA has requested the CAA issue all Sheriff Officers who are involved in viewings or patrolling building perimeters, with a Wet Weather Proof Double Sleeved Jacket.

The PSA is interested in hearing from members providing examples from their workplace where and how cold weather jacket are supplied, including what happens when jackets are not available.
