Child Protection - Travel Time Not Covered by the Return to Work Act Provisions

22 August 2018

The Public Service Association (PSA) met with Department for Child Protection (DCP) Work Health Safety Injury Management (WHSIM) recently.

It was highlighted by DCP WHSIM that staff in DCP may not be covered by the Return to Work Act 2014 when travelling if leaving from any location other than a DCP worksite.

This potentially has major ramifications for staff leaving from home to perform tasks such as On-Call duties, Social Worker’s visiting and completing assessments.

The PSA can provide support to members who are pursuing a Journey Accident claim under the Return to Work Act 2014.

In addition to this, members are reminded that you are covered for loss of income due to an accident for normal travel to and from work with PSA Journey Accident Insurance as part of your membership.
