Changes to Injury and Claims Management - Update

Following initial advice to the PSA on 7 November 2016, regarding a Cabinet decision to transfer the administration of all new Return to Work claims to ReturnToWork SA from 1 July 2017, little detail has emerged to date.

The PSA has met with the Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment on two separate occasions since our last advice to members and until Cabinet release further information we have little tangible information as to what may occur.

The PSA will be meeting fortnightly from 6 February 2017 with the Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment to consult about the implementation plan.

We currently understand that:

  1. 100-300 roles within Injury and Claims Management Services will be affected but the details of what the effects remain unclear at this stage.
  2. All new claims with a date of injury on and from 1 July 2017 will transfer to ReturntoWork SA (or their Agents).
  3. All claims with a date of injury up to and including 30 June 2017 will continue to be managed by the SA Government Scheme.
  4. Cabinet returns Monday 30 January 2017.
