CFS - PSA Attends SA Industrial Relations Commission

16 March 2017

The Public Service Association (PSA) attended a voluntary conference in the South Australian Industrial Relations Commission seeking the assistance of a Commissioner to explore settlement of the issue with Country Fire Service (CFS) regarding the potential over allocation of leave by the agency.

The PSA has sought to resolve this matter through a number of meetings with CFS management to no avail which lead to the matter being placed in dispute.

It was very disappointing that representatives for the CFS seemingly had no intention of rectifying this matter despite a number of options that were put forward by the PSA for consideration.

The PSA and CFS were requested by the Commissioner to continue discussions prior to a further conference to be held on Tuesday 11 April 2017.

The PSA believe this matter can and should be resolved quickly, especially taking into consideration that CFS have openly admitted errors in the way leave has been allocated and no obvious checks and balances were in place.

The PSA
is holding a meeting of all members from across the State to discuss this matter.
