Assistants to MPs Vote Yes for a New Enterprise Agreement
The new Assistants to Members of Parliament will now be presented to the South Australian Employment Tribunal for approval following 76 – 47 vote in favour for the proposal agreement.

The operative date will be the first full pay period on or after 6 March 2019.
The approved agreement provides for annual salary increases (or part in the case of the first pay) of $1,500 per year, for a salary up to and including $75,000 or $1800 or 1.5% (whichever is the greater) for an annual salary of more than $75,000.
It is proposed that the salary increases are operative from:
- first full pay period, on or after 6 March 2019
- first full pay period on or after 1 October 2019
- first full pay period on or after 1 October 2020.
- Back pay to the 6 March 2019.
This is in addition to other benefits, including:
- An increase of two weeks notice or payment in lieu of notice, after eight years of continuous service up to a maximum of 28 weeks
- An increase in paid partner leave, from five to ten days, for the birth or adoption of a child.
