Anna Stewart Memorial Project

01 March 2016

The Anna Stewart Memorial Project (ASMP) was developed to pay tribute to the life and work of Anna Stewart. Anna worked tirelessly to involve women directly in deciding on principles and priorities to put before unions and government, in order to achieve real opportunities for women.

The ASMP provides an opportunity for women union members to learn about organising, industrial representation and other union activities. The ASMP also promotes leadership roles for women.

Expressions of interest are invited from PSA women members to participate in the 2016 Anna Stewart Memorial Project (ASMP), for a split two week period at the PSA:

Week 1: 23 – 27 May 2016
Week 2: 29 August – 2 September 2016

The training program is designed to give an insight into how unions operate and how participants can be more active within their union. It also provides the opportunity for networking and sharing ideas. The PSA participant will “work shadow” industrial officers and organisers. This on-the-job training will be interspersed with seminars conducted in conjunction with SA Unions, involving all ASMP participants.

Expressions of interest to the PSA are requested by COB Friday 28 March 2016. Please complete the online form available here. Successful participants are eligible for paid Union Training Leave for the duration of the project, as the ASMP is an accredited Trade Union training course.
