Enterprise Bargaining – Update for DCS Correctional Officers

29 August 2017

PSA Enterprise Bargaining (EB) proposals specific for Correctional Officers and the DCS management EB agenda were the subject of a meeting between PSA, DCS, and Government representatives on Monday 28 August 2017.

This was the second meeting following an initial meeting on 27 July 2017.

PSA Worksite Representatives from PAP, YLP, ARC and MOB attended the meeting along with the PSA enterprise bargaining team.

The proposals under discussion included those made by DCS as well as PSA proposals.

DCS indicated at the meeting that it intended to put a written proposal to the PSA about establishing working parties in relation to 12 and 8 hours shift in the residential units at PAP and across all units at CTC.

The PSA will consider and respond to any written proposal the Department puts forward.

However, the PSA confirms that Worksite Representatives from all prisons agreed at the CCC meetings on 17 May 2017 and 2 August 2017 that any “shift length flexibility proposals” would be considered and dealt with collectively by representatives from all prisons – and not just the prisons affected by the DCS proposals. This is because of the potential impact on members across all prisons.

An outcome of the meeting was that the Department would also provide a written response to all the PSA’s EB proposals in relation to Correctional Officers.

When the PSA receives this response we will consult further with PSA Worksite Representatives and members from all prisons.
