Action Starts Now – It’s Time to Ramp up the Pressure

12 October 2017

Stop work meetings, work bans and a rally at Parliament House next month were supported and authorised at a meeting of PSA Worksite Representatives and EB Ambassadors today.

The meeting heard a report from General Secretary Nev Kitchin about how contemptuously the government has treated your PSA EB proposals. Nev Kitchin told the meeting it was time to ramp up the pressure on the government to encourage them to consider your enterprise agreement proposals seriously, and to negotiate on them properly.

PSA EB Ambassadors and Worksite Representatives – both in the room and present by video link around the state - unanimously passed the following motion at the meeting today:

“This meeting of PSA Ambassadors and Worksite Representatives notes our General Secretary’s report on the status of enterprise agreement negotiations.

“We condemn and deplore the government’s contemptuous approach to negotiating our enterprise agreement.

“We confirm our support for pursuing an agreement based on the PSA proposals.

“We determine PSA members are to take actions in support of our new agreement until such time as agreement in principle is reached based on the PSA’s enterprise agreement proposals.

“These actions include:

  •  Stop work meetings as organised by Worksite Representatives in conjunction with PSA Organisers and authorised by the General Secretary
  •  Worksite work bans as organised by Worksite Representatives in conjunction with PSA Organisers and authorised by the General Secretary
  •  Attending a PSA membership rally at Parliament House in the second half of November 2017, and encouraging as many members and work colleagues as possible to attend the rally.
  •  Visibly demonstrating our support in the workplace for the PSA proposals for a new agreement”

PSA Organisers have begun contacting Worksite Representatives and EB Ambassadors to arrange actions in your worksites. Members, Worksite Representatives and EB Ambassadors are welcome to contact your PSA Organiser to discuss actions in your worksite.
